The Harvest for Hunger is back. Unfortunately, we have students who depend on the support of our community to keep them fed. Fortunately, we have a strong community who is always willing to lend a hand. In the past, donated items have gone to local food pantries; we plan to continue supporting our local food pantries with all items that don't fit in a power pack. There is still a need for mac'n'cheese w/liquid cheese, beans-kidney, black, pinto, dessert & cake mixes, spaghetti, peanut butter & jelly as well as Thanksgiving side items like canned green beans, corn, and yams (easy open top), boxed mashed potatoes, stuffing mix, and gravy.
This year, we'd also like to provide supplies directly to our students.
Each Friday during the school year, CNE sends packs of food, known as Power Packs, home with students to ensure they have something to eat on weekends. Each Power Pack contains over a dozen food items, which are shelf-stable and kid-friendly.
We think it’s important to provide children with food that is easy to prepare. A few examples of what you might find in a Power Pack include whole grain cereals, fruit cups, complete pasta meals, protein or granola bars, and other healthy options.
