Music is back in the classroom-Mr. Baker's classroom, that is! This year, students get to visit the music room and make music using instruments like drum sticks, xylophones, recorders, and even ukeleles. In first grade, the students are learning to add rhythm to a song they sing. The fourth graders are learning to read and play rhythm.
We are so very lucky to have a music teacher who takes classes during the summer to learn new instruments to teach our students. Mr. Baker spent part of his summer learning the ukelele which he will share with the fourth and fifth graders later this year.
As Aristotle said, "Music has a power of forming the character, and should therefore be introduced into the education of the young." Thanks, Mr. Baker!
