Second year CNE teacher Shelby Diener is very flexible. In her two years at the elementary, she has been a fifth grade teacher and a reading specialist. Read on to learn more about her.
What’s a school sport or activity you enjoy watching?
I love going to my students' soccer games! Soccer is my favorite sport and I try my best to attend games when I can.
In which Hogwarts house would you be sorted?
I am a Hufflepuff! Some people think that being a Hufflepuff is lame, but the two qualities that all Hufflepuff’s have are kindness and loyalty- which I think is pretty cool :)
What makes a ‘good day’ at school?
A good day at school happens when all of my students try their best and everyone is being kind to one another. Those are the days that the most learning takes place!
What inspires you?
I am always inspired by people (whether that be kids or adults) who keep trying, even when things are hard for them.
How do you think students will remember you and your class?
I hope that students will remember me as someone who made them feel safe and cared for. I think that students will remember my classes because I try my best to let them do fun activities to help them learn!
What kind of driver were you when you first got your license?
Well… I had to take my drivers test three times before I could pass it, so that probably speaks for itself about my driving capabilities!
If you won the lottery and decided to give up teaching, what would you do instead?
If I won the lottery and gave up teaching, I would open up a dog shelter and play with cute dogs all day!
What are some pets you’ve had or would like to own?
I had three dogs when I was growing up, and I used to have two guinea pigs. Right now, I have one dog named Leo, who is my best buddy! If I could have any animal for a pet, it would be a Red Panda, although I don’t know how well having a wild animal as a pet would go….
