barbers

Staff members and students both agree that Mrs. Jennifer Barber is especially sweet with a huge heart.  Although faith and family are most dear to her, Mrs. Barber cares deeply about her students and their well-being.  Want to know more?  Read on!

What would the students be surprised to find out about you?

The students would be surprised to learn that I was born in Texas and lived in 7 states and 2 countries all before my 11th birthday.  I even spent 3 years on an Army base in Germany, where I attended Kindergarten and went on field trips to visit castles.

How do you spend your summer breaks?

I spend my summer breaks enjoying the extra time with my children, Allie, Olivia and Bryson.  We love spending time out side, taking walks, going on short trips and doing new things.  We love Coney Island’s pool and visiting the animals at the Zoo.  We also love our family vacations and camping trips.

What makes a good day at school?

A good day at school is any day in which the students make me smile or laugh and vise versa.  My favorite days are the ones where I get to see my students experience an aha moment or accomplish a goal. I love seeing them light up with pride!

What accomplishments fills you with pride so far this year?

So far this year, the one accomplishment that fills me with the most pride is the 40 book reading challenge that I presented to my students during the first week of school.  I challenged them all to read 40 books this school year.  They are doing it!   They are reading all kinds of books, challenging themselves, surprising me with their determination,  and I love listening to them tell me about the books they have read.

In which Hogwarts house would you be sorted? If you walk into my classroom or ask my students, you would know that I am a huge Harry Potter fan.  I love the books and the movies and according to the survey, I would be sorted into the Gryffindor house, which doesn’t surprise me.
