Ford Motor Company Works with Tech Class for Real World Learning Experience
On February 13, 2025 engineers, Garrett Meyers and Jeffery Fisher of Ford Motor Company graciously volunteered their time to speak to Mr. Taktak’s High School 3D Modeling class about how 3D modeling and 3D printing is changing the way Ford is approaching manufacturing.
Ford recently implemented a 3D lab to investigate how 3D technologies and help improve their manufacturing process, lower overhead costs, increase efficiency, and increase worker safety.
The engineers are now working with Mr. Taktak’s class to help shape the future and to encourage students to go into engineering fields.
Ford Donated 3D Printers to CNE HS
Ford also graciously donated 8 Prusa i3 3D printers, which almost doubles the printing abilities of Mr. Taktak’s lab! Mr. Taktak said “These printers are more advanced compared to the printers we currently have in my lab.”
Ford is challenging students by providing blueprints of some of the parts they have designed for their facility. Mr. Taktak’s students will use these blueprints to recreate the 3D models to see how accurately they create the model. Ford has invited the 3D class to print their models and bring them to Ford on a future field trip. On this field trip the Ford engineers will 3D scan the student models and compare them to the actual models. Each student will receive a report about their model highlighting variances between their model and the original.
Mr. Taktak said “We are extremely grateful for the amount of time and effort Ford is willing to put towards our kids. The ability for my 3D modeling students to work so closely to engineers in the field is invaluable. Everything will really come together when we visit Ford. Seeing 3D printed parts on the assembly line is a real eye opener for these kids.” The field trip to Ford is expected to occur some time in May.
