CNE would like to welcome Scott Houp into his new role as Principal of CNE Middle School. Mr. Houp has been at CNE for the past eight years as the Assistant Principal of the High School, and his experience in the district has fostered his love for the community.
“The community wraps its arms around our students,” says Mr. Houp. “I am blessed to be a member of the Rocket Family and I am excited to continue in this new role as Principal of the Middle School.”
Before his time at CNE, Mr. Houp worked as a Middle School Math and Science teacher in Covington Independent School District and Erlanger/Elsmere Independent School District in Northern Kentucky; he also received his Bachelor’s degree from Northern Kentucky University in Middle Grades Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Xavier University.
Mr. Houp adds, “Working in education is a blessing. For me, it’s about growth: growth in the students and staff I work for and serve, and for my own growth. Witnessing the growth large and small is what keeps me energized and eager to start each day.”
With the motto that working in education is a blessing, Mr. Houp prioritizes building relationships with his students and sees this as absolutely vital to learning. One of his favorite moments of the year is getting to see CNE seniors walk across the stage at Commencement to receive their diplomas. “There’s no bigger success than that,” he says.
Mr. Houp is excited to make the jump back into Middle School education as the Principal of CNE Middle School. “I can’t wait to meet and develop relationships with our Middle School rockets,” Mr. Houp beams. “I am looking forward to serving, learning, and working with the fantastic staff at the Middle School.”
When it comes to this summer, Mr. Houp has been enjoying time with his wife of 13 years, Chrissy, and their eleven year-old daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Houp have been getting to watch their daughter participate in a junior golf league every Sunday. They’ve also gotten some time away at the beach in Florida, and family time in Maine.
