Glenda Greene, Director of Special Education and Preschool Director, is excited to begin her 26th year with CNE Schools! Throughout her 25 years, Mrs. Greene has held several other positions, including: Choir Director, Dean of Students, Assistant High School Principal, and Elementary Principal.
Mrs. Greene came to CNE two and a half decades ago to build a new choir program, which was extremely exciting: “I was given the opportunity to build a choral program within the Intermediate, Middle, and High School buildings. At the time, there weren't any choral programs at the Intermediate and Middle School.” Since then, she has moved into a variety of administrative positions, which she continues to enjoy immensely. “This year, I am looking forward to working with our new administration, new and returning staff, and most importantly, our students and families.”
One of Mrs. Greene’s biggest successes to date is watching students grow, learn and overcome obstacles throughout the preschool program. “Our preschool has received the top rating of 5 Stars for Step Up To Quality,” Mrs. Greene adds proudly. “There are numerous requirements that must be met in order to retain the rating, as well as preschool licensing rules on an annual basis.”
This is especially important to her because she believes “the key to success is education. All students deserve an education to help them be productive citizens. As educators, it is our job to prepare students for their future. I enjoy working with students from the time they are in preschool/kindergarten to watching them walk across the stage at graduation to accept their diploma. Watching students grow, learn, and overcome obstacles that may arise during their school years and having a part in their journey is very rewarding to me.”
Mrs. Greene has had the chance to see many students make this journey, but one that is especially meaningful to her was a student who had disliked school from the time they started kindergarten to the time they were close to graduating. She describes, “We worked all summer long before their senior year to catch up on credits, and well as their entire senior year. Seeing that student walk across the stage to accept their diploma was quite the accomplishment!”
Mrs. Greene not only teaches and works within the district, but her family are also active within CNE. In fact, her two grandsons, Colson attends CNE Preschool and Jensen is currently in CNE Elementary. Her grandsons (and her 3 grown children and 3 dogs!) keep Mrs. Greene and husband Cecil quite entertained. In her free time, Mrs. Greene enjoys playing the piano, reading, and traveling – she loves to travel with family, and only has three more states to visit to reach all 50! She is also a firm believer that there is nothing better than sitting by a pool, reading a good mystery novel.
