Clermont Northeastern Schools Announces Enhanced Safety Measures with Armed Staff Resolution

[Clermont Northeastern Schools,7/17/24 ] – After 2 years of Board of Education directed research, Clermont Northeastern Schools are implementing an Armed Staff Resolution aimed at improving response times during crises. We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and community members. During the July Board Meeting the board passed a resolution allowing for the implementation of the armed school staff policy.

Key Points of the Resolution:

  1. Program Overview: The Armed Staff Resolution enables trained, qualified, and selected staff members to conceal carry firearms on campus as part of our comprehensive school safety strategy.

  2. Rigorous Training: Staff members participating in the program undergo extensive training and assessment to ensure proficiency in firearm handling, emergency response procedures, and crisis management.

  3. Board Support: This resolution has received unanimous support from the Clermont Northeastern Schools Board of Education, highlighting our collective commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of our school community.

  4. Confidentiality and Compliance: The identities of staff members participating in the program remain confidential, and strict compliance with program guidelines and protocols is enforced to maintain the highest standards of safety and security.

  5. Program Review: We are committed to ongoing evaluation, review, and collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure the effectiveness and success of our safety initiatives.

Clermont Northeastern Schools believes that safety is a community effort, requiring the involvement and cooperation of all members. By working together, we aim to create a secure environment where students can thrive.

State Mandated Emergency Communication Notification Test
All school districts in Ohio are required to test their emergency communication systems each year. We will conduct our test for all families and emergency contacts on Thursday, August 1st at 12:00 pm. Please ensure all of your contact information is up to date in FINALFORMS and notify your emergency contacts. After the test, please check with your emergency contacts to confirm they received the communication. If there are any issues, check FINALFORMS for accuracy before reaching out to troubleshoot.

First Day of School

The first day of school for students is Thursday, August 15th. We are excited to welcome everyone back and are ready to kick off an exciting year!

Reunification Training and Full-Scale Exercise

This fall, we will conduct a full-scale reunification training exercise on October 3rd. In preparation, staff will review the Standard Response Protocol and the Standard Reunification Method. This exercise is crucial for ensuring the safety of our students and staff. Families will receive more information and updates as the date gets closer.

More on Reunification

Onsite reunification is used to reunite students with families during emergencies. Families picking up their children should go to the CNEAA Fields west of the campus and follow directions from staff. Bring your PHOTO ID and complete a reunification card. Families should wait in their cars until given instructions. Families with students in multiple buildings will pick up at the Middle School first, then the High School. Bus riders and student drivers will be dismissed normally.

For a detailed explanation of the reunification process, please watch the safety video in the link REUNIFICATION VIDEO LINK
