Dear Clermont Northeastern Families,
On Thursday, October 3rd, Clermont Northeastern Schools will conduct a state-required safety drill, along with a reunification exercise. This drill is an important part of our Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and Standard Reunification Method (SRM), which are critical elements in our overall safety plan. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and this practice will help us prepare for a variety of situations, including inclement weather, power outages, water outages, or hazardous material incidents.
What to Expect:
At approximately 1:30 PM, Middle and High School students and staff will participate in a classroom-based safety drill, something we practice several times each year. Afterward, they will take the drill one step further by practicing the reunification process.
Students and staff will watch a safety video with an explanation.
At approximately 2:30 PM, Elementary School students will begin an age-appropriate safety drill, followed by the reunification exercise.
Student will be watching a safety video from a book titled “I’m Not Scared, I’m Prepared”
Reunification Process:
The reunification process involves families picking up their children from school in a safe, controlled manner. Families who pick up their children will report to the CNEAA Fields (2702 US-50, Batavia, OH 45103), located just west of the campus.
Staff will be on-site to direct you to parking. Once parked, families will be asked to fill out a reunification card and return it to staff stationed in the CNEAA parking lot. Please remember to bring a PHOTO ID for verification, and you must be listed as an approved pickup on Final Forms.
After filling out the reunification card, families should remain in their cars and wait for further instructions on how to proceed to the school buildings.
Important Details:
Families with students in both the Middle and High Schools will stop at the Middle School first to pick up their children before proceeding to the High School.
Students who ride the bus or drive themselves will be dismissed in a controlled manner and do not need to participate in the reunification process. They will leave the campus approximately 10-15 minutes earlier than on typical dismissal days.
All other entrances to the campus will be blocked for this exercise. Families picking up students at dismissal on October 3rd will be directed to the CNEAA Fields.
Early Pick-Up Option:
If you do not wish to participate in the drill, you are welcome to pick up your child early, but all early pickups must be completed by 1:00 PM.
Why Are We Doing This?
Reunification is an essential part of our school safety plan that we have not previously practiced. In the event of an emergency, such as severe weather or a power outage, we must ensure we can reunite students with their families in a safe, organized way. This exercise will help us refine and improve the process, ensuring we are well-prepared should a real event occur. Our goal is to make sure your children understand that this is a learning exercise and not something to fear.
We appreciate your support and patience as we work together to make our school community safer for everyone.
